Castellazzo & Barlassina

The two buildings shown here may not appear to have any common denominator other than that of representing, each in its own way, details which share the quality of being truly unique: apparently insignificant, but essential because of their location.

The Castellazzo stop in Bollate was the gateway to noble landowners’ estates beyond the railway and the terminus of a connecting line of great importance for the history of the area.

Barlassina, on the other hand, was the only intermediate station between the Seveso branch and the destination of Camnago, already connected to the national railway grid at the time. Both of them were therefore particularly useful “approaches”on railway lines which had been officially forgotten by the communities around them.
