AB-011

The AB 011 first and second class mixed coach was originally built by Officine Elettro Ferroviarie Tallero in Corsico in 1907 as the D 668 baggage car for FNM. It was subsequently converted into the AB 011 first and second class mixed coach, and later converted in the 1960s into an X 0032 workshop coach. In 1973 it was chosen to be converted back to a historic first and second class passenger coach, regaining the number AB 011. The padded seating upholstered in green velvet and the lace headrests were restored to first class. The three second-class units were restored with bench seating in varnished wooden slats.

This coach is also similar to the first FNM coaches. 2-axle with spoked wheels. Metal chassis, leaf spring suspension. Wooden body with sheet metal exterior. Flat roof covered with tarred canvas. Access via two platforms, one at each end. Its weight is 11 tons and its capacity is 3 tons. Since 1974, restored in green and yellow, it has been part of the FNM historic train pulled by the 200-05.

Inside, the body is divided into two sections: the first class compartment and the second class compartment. The first has eight large padded seats upholstered in green velvet, seating a total of 16. The lace headrests are embroidered with the classic FNM monogram in italic characters as was in use at the time. The monogram is also engraved on the glass of the sliding doors between compartments. In addition to the furniture there are luggage nets on brass shelves. There are opening ventilators in coloured glass. Lighting is provided by 3 electric lights housed in the original ceiling fixtures which originally contained oil lamps. The second class compartment on the other side provides 24 seats. The benches are more comfortable than those in third class. All the windows are of a simple type. They consist of glass in a retractable frame in varnished wood that can be lowered. The retractable wooden sun blind can also be lowered. At each end of the coach, sliding doors lead onto the platforms for getting on and off.
