Barasso - Comerio

Un'immagine della stazione negli anni Ottanta
La stazione come si presenta oggi

Comerio is a small town in the province of Varese. In 1946, Milanese entrepreneur Giovanni Borghi founded SIRI, better known as Ignis, a company specialising in the manufacture of domestic appliances. Between 1914 and 1940 Comerio was the location for a stop on the Varese-Angera tramway, run by the Società Anonima Tramvie Orientali del Verbano (SATOV).

The town of Comerio, together with Barasso, was served by the station of Barasso-Comerio, part of the Saronno-Laveno line. It stands somewhat lower than the towns it is named after, roughly halfway between Comerio and Lake Varese. Barasso is also a small town, which in 1927 was joined with the town of Comerio, returning to independence in 1957.
