Seregno

Cartolina della stazione negli anni '40
La stazione

Seregno is in the south of the Brianza area, in the upper Lombardy plain and in sight of the Lombardy Prealps (Grigna, Grignetta and Resegone). Seregno has a long-established tradition of industry, commerce and craft, as it is a crossroads for various provinces and is close to Switzerland. In the 20th century, there were many wood slicers in operation throughout the area, a sign that the furniture industry was flourishing and of high quality, but over the years wood was replaced by textiles, chemicals, machinery, electronics, IT and rubber processing.

Seregno station is an interchange hub for the regional network, connecting with the regional Saronno–Seregno and Seregno–Bergamo lines and the Chiasso-Milano international route.

In the past, Seregno was served by two intercity tramways, the Milano-Carate/Giussano and the Monza-Meda-Cantù.
