Cesano NS

La stazione come si presentava nel 1985, durante i lavori di ristrutturazione della linea
Il fabbricato viaggiatori in una foto recente

The station opened in 1887 at the same time as the Saronno-Seregno section which completed the line from Novara to Seregno. It was named Cesano Maderno NS (standing for “Novara-Seregno”) to distinguish it from the station on the Milano-Asso line.

From 1958, with the end of passenger services on the Saronno-Seregno section, the station was used exclusively as a freight consist interchange. It was decommissioned in 2010, with the start of reconstruction work on the line. From 2012, the station was replaced with a new joint facility with Milano-Asso. It consisted of a passenger building and two tracks for train traffic. As of November 2015, the passenger building is still in existence, while the second track was dismantled in 2014.
