Ceriano Laghetto - Solaro

The town features a small lake, belonging to a private property not open to the public, and a section of woodland incorporated in Groane Park, a natural park accessible via numerous cycle paths. Although part of a densely populated area north of Milan, only a small part of the municipal area is urbanised, while around half is occupied by woodland or countryside. The town is served by the station of Ceriano Laghetto-Solaro.
The station opened in 1887 at the same time as the Saronno-Seregno section, which completed the line from Novara to Seregno. In 1958, with the end of passenger services on the Saronno-Seregno section, the station was used exclusively as a freight consist interchange. The station was renovated and reopened on 9 December 2012, with the extension of the line and the resulting reopening of the section to passenger traffic.

Ambrogio e Caterina, Solaro: this small building in exposed brick, in keeping with the local tradition, was built from 1363 (the year of the laying of the foundation stone) by Ambrogio Birago, councillor to Bernabò Visconti, and his wife, Caterina degli Amizoni. Inside, the walls of the chapel are almost entirely covered by a wonderful cycle of frescoes: it depicts episodes from the life of Christ and the Virgin, and in the first bay, the story of Adam and Eve. On the north wall is the stern figure of Saint Ambrose; on the south, Saint Catherine of Alexandria. The famous lake in Ceriano, as it was. The famous lake in Ceriano, as it is today.
