Rovellasca Manera

This small town in the province of Como in a mainly agricultural area has been impacted by development to varying degrees since its beginning. The most significant and interesting of these developments occurred in 1928, when Rovellasca and Rovello Porro were combined. The new municipality had its seat in Rovellasca and was given the curious name of Rovi Porro. By 1939, the existence of “Rovi Porro” had ended. Rovellasca and Rovello Porro were then reinstated as two independent municipalities.
The Rovellasca-Manera stop opened in 1878 as a conversion of the pre-existing Como-Fino-Saronno tramway. An interesting feature concerns the village of Manera, which originated as a farm on the road from Saronno to Lomazzo, halfway between Rovello Porro and Lomazzo, to whose municipality it still belongs.
