Luisago is a small town in the province of Como in the Lombardy region. It lies near Brianza, ten kilometres from Como. The municipal area consists of Luisago itself and four villages. The largest of these is Portichetto, which is located to the north-east approximately one kilometre away. This area is home to the town's biggest industries. Despite being located well away from the bridge over the A9 motorway, locals conventionally call the area west of the overpass “Luisago”, while the eastern area is known as “Portichetto”.

The Portichetto-Luisago station is located in the village of Portichetto, which was also home to the electric substation which first brought electrification in the '30s.
