Grandate Breccia

La stazione negli anni Settanta quando c'era ancora un bar
Grandate-Breccia oggi, lato strada

The town of Grandate, together with the Como district of Breccia, is served by the Como-Saronno railway by means of the Grandate-Breccia station. Until 1966 it was also a stop on the Como-Varese line. A decree of administrative reorganisation issued by the Napoleonic Kingdom of Italy in 1807 ratified the annexation of the town of Breccia to Como. This merger was however abolished by the Restoration.

According to the provincial divisions of 1816 (Lombardo-Venetian Kingdom), Breccia was still joined to Lazzago. It was an independent town until 1943, when it was incorporated with Como. Between 1910 and 1955, the town was served by a stop on the Como-Appiano Gentile-Mozzate tramway.
