Cadorago
The municipal area of Cadorago is still partly agricultural, despite the intense urban development of recent decades. The village also has a strong artistic tradition: it is the home of Murarte 90, an open-air art gallery.
Murarte 90 was established to celebrate the twentieth anniversary of the Lario-Cadorago painting prize, awarded on 14 occasions between 1968 and 1988. Over 300 artworks by 233 Italian and international artists are displayed around the streets of Cadorago, including painting, sculpture and ceramics. The works employ a variety of different techniques, such as fresco, graffito and acrylic; some are created directly on the walls themselves, while others are on calcium silicate panels which are then attached to the walls. The initiative is continually growing and expanding and new works are regularly added to the village’s walls.
