In 2019, the Malpensa Express celebrated twenty years of activity, and continues to transport more and more passengers, reaching 40 million since the rail link opened. In 2018, the annual record of 3 million travellers was reached. The initial 57 journeys per day have now grown to 148, one every quarter of an hour to and from the airport, 7 days a week, from dawn (the first train departs Malpensa at 4:27 am from Milano Cadorna and at 5:25 am from Milano Centrale) to after midnight (the last train departs from the airport for Milano Cadorna at 1:00 am). Since 2010, the station of Milano Cadorna has also been joined by the stations of Milano Centrale, and Milano Porta Garibaldi, the interchange with the high-speed, international, regional and suburban lines.
