Bassa Valle Camonica - Darfo

When the train leaves Pisogne and begins to climb, the first section is still gentle and not at all hectic: it quietly crosses that part of the valley that is still very much agricultural, and where still today there is livestock and crops.
Piancamuno, Artogne and some hamlets, and the only excursion into the province of Bergamo in the area of Rogno, a legacy of 19th-century boundaries, mark the passing of time with the slow flowing river as the backdrop, framed by the impressive iron bridge that connects Darfo to the south part of the valley. Darfo was also once a stop on a guided busway which started in Lovere and connected to Cividate, site of an ancient Roman settlement, and Malegno, a gateway for the trails that led to the nearby Bergamo valleys.

Montecampione: a ski resort established in the late '70s and early '80s lying within the Artogne and Pian Camuno areas, in the Val Camonica, which is the main winter tourist destination. Montecampione is located in the south of the valley, on the border of the Sebino area. The mountains in its territory (although this is difficult to define as Montecampione is not a town) belong to the Brescia Prealps, more precisely the Western Brescia Range (Setteventi-Muffetto Group). The small valley which overlooks the Val Camonica, formed by the area containing the villages of Acquebone, Ca' de Gos and Piazze, is named Val di Mezzo, although it has no single definition. The Val Maione is located at high altitude between the Colma di Marucolo and the Dosso Rotondo. Compared to the nearby Orobie and the Rhaetian Alps (the latter present in the Upper Camonica Valley), the Montecampione peaks have a gentler appearance, with summits worn by the elements and the presence of rocks limited to the very highest peaks.
