Pontelambro-Castelmarte

Ponte Lambro, known simply as Ponte until 1928, is a town in the province of Como in Lombardy at the heart of Upper Brianza. Its position in the Larian Triangle places it between the two branches of Lake Como. The local economy is based on a long-standing tradition of steel making: in 1397 the local hammers and forges, active since at least the 14th century, were chosen to supply steel for the construction of the Duomo in Milan. The silk mill was built in the 18th century.
The passenger building is in keeping with the style of many stations on the railway line.

Although its current appearance dates back to 1785, when Simone Cantoni was commissioned by two parish priests (Carlo Antonio Brioschi and Antonio Maria Staurenghi) to remodel it in the style of the time, the church itself, with its wide staircase, dates back to the previous century. The façade was further remodelled in the 19th century after 1807.
