Lambrugo - Lurago

The station of Lambrugo-Lurago is located in the municipal area of Lambrugo. Although for centuries Lambrugo’s economy was farming-based, the main industry today is the largely handcrafted production of textiles, with related businesses in the dyeing and printing of fabric.
There are also small businesses specialising in small metal parts and woodworking. The agricultural area of Lurago d'Erba was a centre for silkworm rearing, and in the 19th century it became known for the handcrafted production of wicker used for basket-weaving.

The station on a postcard from the early 20th century Greetings from Lambrugo Pomelasca estate and the red church (1.7 km from the station): the village of Pomelasca, on record since the 16th century, is the site of an estate of the same name which has belonged to the Sormani family since the 1700s. The estate’s large park is covered with woodland, paths and tree-lined avenues, which branch off from the semi-circular area in front of the villa’s north façade and can be freely explored, offering scenic views of the surrounding area. The little red church standing alone on the horizon is built from Lombardy terracotta, the red brick that is predominant in buildings of the Lombard Renaissance.
