Cabiate


Cabiate is situated in the south of the province of Como on the upper Lombardy plain, and the forests of the area are part of the Parco delle Groane consortium.

The town’s strong tradition of craftsmanship has its roots in chair making, already very active in the 16th century, and Cabiate is known throughout the world for its concentration of leading furniture manufacturers.

Workers waiting to cross the tracks after a locomotive has passed, early 1900s Station exterior with the tracks of the tramway to Cantù Villa Padulli (200 m from the station): the villa is situated on the natural terrace of a hillside which overlooks the old town of Cabiate below. Villa Padulli is a historic residence and retreat dating back to the 19th century. It is surrounded by a large park, one of the earliest examples of an English garden in Italy, which spreads along the hillside.
