Brescia via Dalmazia

In discussing the modernisation of the Brescia network, Lombardy’s second largest city in terms of population could not be overlooked. Over the last thirty years, the southern part of the city has experienced enormous growth, so much so that it has now become known as Brescia 2.

The main problems in terms of traffic derived from the presence of a number of railway lines bordering the city to the south, which could only be crossed after long waits at level crossings. One of these, a leftover from the Zanardelli era, its crossing guarded by a small guard house still in existence, was replaced by the construction of a huge underpass which has irreversibly altered its appearance, while obviously improving life in the area.
