Cadorna and Diabolik: an unwritten story
The creation of Diabolik in 1962 is closely linked to the history of Ferrovie Nord and, specifically, to the Milan Cadorna station. It was while observing the commuters boarding and alighting the trains that Angela Giussani came up with the idea of creating a pocket-sized comic book for adults that was easy and convenient to read. To further cement this connection, there's a particular, so to speak, logistical detail. Astorina Publishing House was located on via Leopardi 25, a mere stone’s throw from Cadorna station which, with its flow of people coming and going, was indeed the inspiration for a character and his adventures that, more than 60 years later, continue to enjoy extraordinary success.
To remember and celebrate this curious interweaving of stories, we have decided to publish and distribute free of charge an original adventure of Diabolik, engaged in a “Colpo alle FERROVIENORD.”
The episode tied to the conception of Diabolik confirms, once again, the profound significance and centrality that the Ferrovie Nord, since 1877, have had in Lombard society, in the lives and imaginations of many people. It's an incredibly rich cultural heritage that we are committed to enhancing through numerous initiatives.
